Realtors, Be The Expert.

There is just something about a Realtor who set’s themselves apart by the expertise they demonstrate in their career.  It shines through not only in with their clients, but among their industry peers as well.  Honestly, this could be said for any industry, but in a service related career where buyers and sellers are trusting the biggest financial decision of their lives to a real estate professional, don’t you think the level of expertise should matter immensely?

According to NAR research: “According to the survey, 92 percent of buyers in 2016 relied on an agent as a resource during the home search process as a whole, and that’s not just to negotiate and deal with the paperwork side of the deal — in fact, half of all buyers want help from their real estate professional in finding the right home to purchase.” – in response to this, every agent should learn to master their craft.  Because although 88% of buyers would recommend their agent to someone else to use, only 11% of buyers used an agent they had used in the past. (Same research).

If this is true, why? – Mostly because of poor communication after the deal had closed, but you need to realize this is part of your expertise when it comes to marketing and strategy in your business.  Expertise is not just about the market, it’s about how to effectively run your business as a whole.

When it comes to being a Realtor expert in your career, i want to suggest a few things to focus on today:

– Know your market – check the MLS everyday – be familiar with the newest listings in your area, solds, and pendings – avg. prices and avg. days on market – and sold-to-list price ratio
– Know the local scene – local schools, restaurants, hotspots.  Local news, new developments, etc.
– Know your business – track your metrics.  Where is your business coming from and predict your goals using hard stats from your past business.
– Know how to run your real estate business – marketing techniques, communication strategy and automation, technology and social media branding.

Being the Real Estate expert is more than just about selling homes, it’s about growing and running your real estate business as a whole.
